Visit the Kinnegar bar for a break during your visit to Ireland's biggest festival of garden design, plants and produce. You'll find us in the Bloom Inn alongside other Origin Green certified Irish drinks producers. Bloom Inn is right beside the impressive Food Village which features a vast array of indigenous Irish producers.
SEPTEMBER 2022
According to the Association of Private Breweries who run the awards “The European Beer Star honours beers that are genuine, full of character and of high quality.” That pretty much sums up Scraggy.
Widely available, enduringly popular. The dogs in the street identified Scraggy as a winner right from the time we started making it, in dinky little 50 litre batches, back in 2012. Rick’s relentless pursuit of perfection, together with steady improvements in both our brewing skill and brewing kit, have resulted in an incrementally better product with every batch brewed.
On 14 September past, Scraggy garnered critical acclaim worthy of its popularity, winning Ireland’s very first ever medal at the European Beer Star awards in Munich. And a gold one, at that, taking top spot in the “New Style IPA” category.
We are very, very proud. Thank you to every last person who has enjoyed and championed Kinnegar’s flagship beer with us over the years. Sail on, the good ship Scraggy Bay!
Our Taproom licence permits us to serve you beer after the completion of a guided tour. We offer three types of tour.
Each tour offers an overview of the brewing process. We begin in the malt loft and continue through the brew house, fermentation, the conditioning cellar, and finally to packaging. By the end of the journey you will understand what gives your favourite Kinnegar beer style its particular colour, flavour and aroma.
From adults to children, and beer enthusiasts to their reluctant partners, we guarantee you will find this a memorable and highly enjoyable experience!
NB : We close for the second week of September every year as we all enjoy a break after a busy summer.
